About Meggie

Meggie has wanted to be a writer ever since she was four and read The Little Engine That Could on her mother's lap. She started newspaper reporting at age 15 for thirty cents a column inch. To learn everything she could about writing, she earned two bachelor's degrees and four majors in four years from Indiana University: English, Classical Studies (Greek and Latin), Journalism (Editing), and Linguistics. After earning her M.A. in Linguistics from I.U. and the University of Minnesota, she became a newspaper copy editor in Minneapolis.

After moving to Chicagoland, Meggie had four children in four years and became an English professor. Of course, no writer's bio would be complete without a cat; Meggie shares her home with an American Eclectic (alley cat) named Piki, who looks like the Cheshire Cat but is eerily friendly. More highbrow is her Jack Russell Terrier, Bandit, who is getting grumpy in his old age.

Meggie enjoys taking her kids to the city's great museums, zoos, and art galleries. She also enjoys working out, baking, and wearing just a touch of the latest fashions.
